Harrow East seeks three organisations to attend a “Making Every Contact Count” (MECC) Train the Trainer session, facilitated by Voluntary Action Harrow (VAH). Each organisation will receive a customised resource pack to help them deliver health messaging training to their respective communities.
Local Priorities
- Increasing immunisation uptake, particularly for childhood vaccines like MMR and Flu.
- Supporting smoking cessation, especially for those with COPD and pregnant smokers.
- Promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles for preventing and managing diabetes and hypertension.
The MECC approach empowers people to make the most of routine interactions by encouraging conversations about positive health and wellbeing changes. Learn more about MECC here.
We are looking for:
- 1 organisation working with the Romanian community, focusing on families with children under 5 and promoting childhood vaccination (e.g., Healthy Start).
- 1 organisation working with the South Asian community, focusing on adults at risk of or living with cardiovascular disease or diabetes.
- 1 organisation working with the African and Caribbean community, focusing on adults at risk of or living with hypertension, and men with mental health needs.
The Making Every Contact Count (MECC) approach encourages and trains everyone to use the opportunities arising during their routine interactions to have conversations about how they might make positive improvements to their health or wellbeing.
